Low Impact Art
The Vicissitudes collection is printed on 100% recycled paper, thus each print is unique and celebrates imperfections. The props used in the photographs are thrifted, salvaged or repurposed.
This print was featured in Bertie's first art show: VICISSITUDES. The sold-out show was on November 29, 2022 and took place in a cozy studio with music by DJ Gasolina, an interactive piece encouraging self-reflection, and the collection of five photographs and five illustrations on display.

Bertie came out as non-binary this year. These prints are reflective of that experience.
VICISSITUDES is discomfort through transformation. It’s the magnetism of change and yet the resistance to it. The collection portrays the shapes of this experience: not ready, scared, itching, listening, jumping. The ground is in motion beneath our feet but we are not wearing shoes. Will we run or fall?
All prints and stickers are a final sale. As an emerging artist and the sole person in charge of this small business, Bertie wants to encourage you to take your time with your purchase to make sure that you are choosing something that is the right fit. The decision to have a no-return policy helps minimize waste, be conscious of carbon footprint, and aligns with the current capacity of this small business.

Bertie is an emerging artist carrying 10 years of experience with photography and recently introduced to the world of digital art. Bertie draws inspiration from their everyday life and their upbringing. Themes of importance in their work and life include: gender, queerness, religion, identity, belonging, and the role that power plays within each of these.
The photographs in the VICISSITUDES collection feature the unceded, never-surrendered territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples, who have a historical and ongoing relationship to this land. May this serve as a reminder to walk respectfully on this land and to actively dismantle the impacts of colonial systems here.
