In September 2023, I was the artist in residence at Sweetpea Gallery's Greenhouse. I reflected on my past art collections and decided to do things differently from my regular art practice. I used my time in the Greenhouse Residency to prioritize the following:
- Playing and having fun
- Leading with intuition
- Doing nothing serious
- Honouring process over outcome
I've been really interested in the concept of Play and how we tend to move away from this in adulthood. When I look back, playing as a child was necessary for creativity. Some of my most creative experiences were through Play. So for this residency I decided to create for the fun of it, play with toys, and see what comes of it at the end. No rules, just flow.
