Phoenix + Cassidy: Love in the Rain
I recently had the pleasure of photographing the engagement of Phoenix and Cassidy at Meegan, on a day that was quintessentially Victoria – rainy, hazy, and absolutely magical. The overcast sky gave the park an ethereal quality, making the greens pop vibrantly against the mist. It was an incredible setting to capture the love and connection between Phoenix and Cassidy.
Despite the rain, the park was alive with a unique, tranquil energy. The leaves danced gently as the rain kissed their surfaces, creating a serene backdrop that was perfect for the shoot. Phoenix and Cassidy were naturals in front of the camera. Their comfort with each other shone through in every frame.
Phoenix (she/they) and Cassidy (he/they) were open to embracing the weather, and that spirit of adventure translated beautifully into the photos. The rain added an extra layer of intimacy and sparkle to their interactions, turning a simple engagement shoot into something truly special.

This shoot was a perfect reminder of why I love what I do as a photographer here on Lekwungen Territory (Victoria BC). Capturing genuine moments of love and connection, especially within the LGBTQ+ community, is incredibly rewarding.
